A Certified Alcohol Free Coach

Hi, I’m Becky - a certified alcohol-free performance coach who knows first hand how overwhelming life can feel when you're stuck in a cycle that no longer serves you. For years, I battled with low self-worth, constant anxiety, and a deep sense of dissatisfaction. Then, at 42, I made a powerful decision: I removed alcohol from my life - and everything changed.

My Journey

A Life-Changing Decision

In November 2023, at age 42, I made a life-changing decision - I removed alcohol from my life. I wasn’t physically dependent on alcohol; from the outside, my drinking looked like that of many others. But I was drinking too much and too often. It had become my go-to for everything - a stressful day, a productive day, boredom, socialising.  Any excuse.

Struggling Beneath the Surface

​Beneath the surface, I was struggling. My mental health was deteriorating, my anxiety was through the roof, and I felt self-conscious about my weight. I was constantly exhausted from poor sleep, short-tempered with the kids, and inconsistent in almost everything I did. I lacked clarity, felt drained, and was unmotivated. In all honesty, I didn’t particularly like myself.

Taking the First Step

I knew something had to change. So, I decided to take a break from alcohol, not knowing how long it would last. I started listening to podcasts and was inspired by stories from people who had removed alcohol from their lives. I read quit lit (books on being alcohol-free), which opened my eyes to alcohol’s impact and fuelled my motivation to keep going. Slowly but surely, I hit milestones: 30 days, 90 days, 100 days. And the benefits started to show - better sleep, more energy, greater patience, stronger relationships with my kids, and a renewed sense of motivation.​

Unexpected Inner Growth

The biggest change however, and one I never expected, was inside. I began to understand myself on a deeper level and gained clarity on what truly mattered to me. That part was tough. I had to learn how to manage difficult emotions without alcohol as a crutch. I leaned into meditation, practiced gratitude, and made sure to get outside as much as possible. Over time, my mental health improved, my confidence grew, and I even lost 21 pounds as I became more consistent with exercise and nutrition. For the first time in years, I started to genuinely like myself.

 

Don’t get me wrong - life isn’t perfect.  I have to work hard to maintain the routines that keep me feeling my best. But now, I recognise when things start to slip and know how to prioritise my wellbeing. When I first took a break from alcohol, I thought I’d be the same version of Becky - just without the drinks (and maybe a bit slimmer!). I couldn’t have been more wrong. This journey has been about so much more than quitting alcohol - it’s been about rediscovering my authentic self, building self-worth, and living with intention. And now, I want to help others do the same.

Becoming a Certified Coach

In December 2024, I qualified as a coach, earning a Diploma in Coaching and Positive Psychology, as well as a Certificate in Alcohol-Free Performance Coaching. My mission is to help people transform their relationship with alcohol - whether that means cutting back or removing it entirely - so they can experience the incredible freedom, clarity, and confidence that comes with it.
